“Wrangler has been outfitting cowboys and cowgirls since 1947 and has evolved into an iconic denim brand known for its heritage and deep roots in the western lifestyle.”
Expect to see cowgirls running around clothed in fringe, lace, and colorful patterns alongside their urban cowboys this summer. In honor of the upcoming months spent in the sun, Sheplers spoke with Wranglers for an exclusive take on what to expect to see on shelves from the beloved brand this summer – along with some inside information on what sets Wrangler apart from the rest.
1.) What would you say sets Wrangler apart as a brand?
Wrangler has been outfitting cowboys and cowgirls since 1947 and has evolved into an iconic denim brand known for its heritage and deep roots in the western lifestyle. The depth and breadth of the Wrangler Western collection speaks to its commitment to quality and innovation, two characteristics that truly set it apart from its competitors. As the leader in western wear and maker of the original Cowboy Cut jean, Wrangler is not just a household name, but it’s a lifestyle. People know they can count on Wrangler for quality and durability – for clothing that can keep up with their lifestyle while remaining true to their western ways.
2.) What is your all-time favorite Wrangler memory?
I have so many wonderful memories at Wrangler it’s difficult to have a favorite. We’re fortunate to work with the best of the best in terms of brand endorsees, so being a part of their greatest moments is extremely rewarding. A few special memories come to mind – George Strait playing for more than 104,000 fans at AT&T Stadium in 2014, and being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006; Team Wrangler cowboy Trevor Brazile winning a record 19 world championships in 2014; and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. driving the Wrangler Jean Machine and seeing that legacy carry on with Dale Jr. There’s never a dull moment in this business, and we look forward to the great memories that are yet to come.
3.) How long has Wrangler been making denim?
Wrangler Western has been outfitting authentic western consumers and western-inspired shoppers since 1947.
4.) Describe Wrangler in three words.
Wrangler jeans are authentic, comfortable, and durable.
5.) What do you think the biggest spring 2015 fashion trend will be?
For ladies, we’re seeing fringe, lace, and colorful patterns as strong trends. Rich southwest-inspired patterns and color stories are still prominent this season. You’ll see a lot of this incorporated in our spring and summer collections, from colorful palazzo pants that are stylish without sacrificing comfort, to brightly patterned skirts and dresses that incorporate different materials/textures. On the denim side, we’re continuing to follow the clean back pocket trend in our Rock 47® by Wrangler® collection, by offering more styles and washes in skinny, boyfriend and flare fits.
For men, we’re seeing heavy stitched denim as a growing trend among our “urban cowboy” consumers. These cowboys are looking for a premium, fashion-forward, yet western-inspired jean that can be worn out for an evening with friends or to a concert. We launched the men’s Rock 47® by Wrangler® jean collection last fall to fill this need.
6.) Who would you say is your favorite country music artist?
George Strait. He has been a constant presence in country music for more than 25 years. The King of Country Music is a close friend to Wrangler and his talent and legacy are truly one of a kind.
7.) Is there anything exciting coming from Wrangler in 2015?
This summer, along with fresh color combinations in our men’s Wrangler Retro and Rock 47 by Wrangler shirt collections and unique dress patterns in our women’s Rock 47 by Wrangler and Premium Patch collections styles that create the perfect summer concert look – Wrangler is unveiling the next phase of its Premium Performance Cowboy Cut® collection offering innovative technology to meet the demands of our authentic cowboy consumer. The Cool Vantage Cowboy Cut collection features sweat control technology and wicks up to five-times faster than other denim to keep the wearer dryer and cooler. More details coming soon!
